FRUIT & VEG CITY FRANCHISE REQUIREMENTS

FOOD LOVER'S MARKETS

The Food Lover's Markets comprise of stores ranging from 1200m² to 4000m² and can cost between 8 and 30 million Rand. They have a wide range of departments which can include Butchery, Bakery, Tapas , Grill Bar, Groceries, Sushi, Fishmonger, Chocolaterie, Grill Bar, Market Cafe and more.

The stores and departments are tailored to the target market, demographic and location of the store

All potential franchisees should have at least 50% of the cost in unencumbered funds.
The above costs exclude any building and opening stock costs.

Some of the costs included above would be:

• All fittings and fixtures.
• Traveling and accommodation for the store opening.
• Advertising for the store opening.

There is no up-front joining fee payable to the franchisor.

The franchise fee is 2% of turn-over, payable weekly on invoice.
A marketing fee is shared as % of turnover and as a ratio of national spend to store size.

You may source your stock suppliers as you wish. However, if you decide to buy at one of the markets where we currently have a distribution centre, you are expected to pay toward the running costs of that distribution centre.
The amount is calculated at 5% and added onto the cost of the produce.  All purchases from the distribution centre are due for payment on the Friday of the following week i.e. approximately ten days credit.

You will find that Fruit & Veg City is one of the most transparent franchise businesses in South Africa today. There is total openness in all dealings with suppliers and service providers.  This includes all equipment purchased for the store opening as well as all produce.

WHERE TO GO 

All franchise enquiries are dealt with on a site-to-site basis and we expect prospective franchisees to identify potential sites within their selected town/city.

Once you have done that, you may contact me (details below) to conduct a site inspection where we will select the best option according to your possibilities.  Based on this selection we will request a formal site evaluation.  The evaluations are done by an external company at a cost of between R10 000 and R15 000 per study, which is payable by the prospective franchisee.

Based on the results of the study, we can then determine whether the site is feasible/viable or not.

REQUIREMENTS 

Our business model is designed for the experienced retailer. In order to run/own one of our stores, you will need to meet the following criteria:

• Experience in retailing.
• Experience in fruit and vegetables.
• Knowledge of running a business.
• Knowledge of cash flow and control of it.
