The Fresher Food Stores form the core of our business, providing for all your basic fresh produce needs. Fruit & Veg City's new Fresher Food Stores are just that...Fresher. Fruit & Veg City have taken their stores and given them bright, bold make-overs with more neutral paint tones, bright and modern fridges and smart, cleaner packaging - the stores have a whole new look to them.

The makeover has also gone much further than just making a Fruit & Veg City store look brighter. The Fruit & Veg City team has also introduced exciting new departments, ensuring that the shopping experience is one that represents freshness and convenience. At Fruit & Veg City's Fresher Food Stores, you can find almost all your fresh food needs under one roof.

The Food Lovers Market

The next step in the evolution of Fruit & Veg City was to create a modern eatery where food aficionados could indulge in a range of gourmet foods. It was this vision that finally gave birth to the Food Lover’s Market, a theatre of food that was designed specifically with connoisseurs in mind.

The Fruit & Veg City team crossed the globe in search of the hottest international trends in food. They visited the United States, Europe, Australia and the East, and then brought the best elements of what they saw in there back with them. The result is the stylish and modern food emporium called the Food Lover’s Market.

At the Food Lover’s Market, we cater for the discerning customer, the connoisseurs, the professional ‘foodies’ and, of course, our regular customers who are used to the exceptional quality and variety on offer at Fruit & Veg City.

Hot Foods

In today’s fast-paced world, we don’t always have the time to cook for ourselves. This is where our Hot Foods department comes in. Here you will find a variety of ready-made gourmet dishes to take home and heat up for a delectable lunch or dinner. On the menu find anything from cooked chicken to spare ribs, with some roast vegetables to go on the side.

Butchery

At our Butchery, only the finest selection of meat will do. Here you can choose from normal lamb chops to more exotic delicacies such as pork armadillos. Our butchers take great pride in their work, and this passion seems to be paying off as more and more lovers of good food choose our Butcheries because of the quality and variety of meat on offer.

Cheese & Deli

Those of you who are hosting an intimate party at home, or planning to enjoy the legendary South African sunshine with a picnic, will find everything you need at the Cheese & Deli department. With a vast number of exotic cheeses from around the world, as well as cold meats to satisfy every taste, you can choose snacks that will impress friends and family.

Bakery

Moving over to the Bakery department, you will be enticed with the smell of freshly-baked breads and pastries of every kind imaginable. From artisan-style bread to milk tarts (a true South African favourite) our Bakery is a delight for any food lover!

Seafood

Our Seafood department always has a selection of the freshest fish, straight from the Atlantic Ocean. Here seafood lovers can get everything from fresh tuna to prawns, mussels and yellowtail. However, as a responsible retailer we make sure that we do our bit to protect the environment. That’s why we will never stock any fish that is on the endangered species list.

Pizza, Panini and Pasta

At our classic Italian Pizzeria you can order delicious pizzas and divine paninis made the Italian way. Those of you looking to throw together a nice Alfredo or Linguini for dinner can get all your requirements at the Pasta department, or just order some pasta and have it made for you while you do your shopping!

Our fresh produce is provided to us through the large and efficient Fruit & Veg City network, ensuring that all our fruits and vegetables are always as fresh as can be.

Short Cuts is your one-stop chopping block, where all your fruit & vegetables will be diced, peeled, chipped, sliced and chopped for you while you shop. And there’s no charge!

Freshstop

Two of the country’s most respected brands in their respective fields, Fruit & Veg City and Chevron, have teamed up to bring you one of South Africa’s most exciting new retail partnerships in years, called Freshstop at Caltex.

Freshstop, in conjunction with Fruit & Veg City, has quickly become the innovative new name in healthy eating in South Africa. Now, together with Caltex, we have developed a fresh convenience format that’ll wow your senses and tempt your taste buds.
These trendy new stores, located at selected Caltex service stations, feature a variety of innovative departments and products that focuses on the ever-increasing, time conscious demands of consumers.

Customers are able to choose from a variety of freshly-baked breads and pastries from the Bakery department, while a Deli & Meat section offers them everything needed for that Saturday afternoon braai.

True to its name, Freshstop at Caltex is also a one-stop shop for fruit andvegetables, with an extensive fresh produce section that is supplied and stocked by the Fruit & Veg City distribution network. Much emphasis is placed on freshness, as can be seen with the salads, fruit salads and fresh dairy products such as milk and yoghurt on offer.

For those with limited time to their disposal, a hot foods department called ‘The Pitstop Café’, serves tantalizing take-away dishes such as crispy fried chicken, pizzas, and the already famous breakfast bun, which, in contrast to its name, can be ordered anytime of the day.
To further add to shoppers’ convenience, a grocery section stocks all the daily essentials, from cleaning agents to crispy chips, canned goods and more.
